Maureen founded the firm in 2022 to provide forward-focused legal representation to union-affiliated benefit plans. She views this practice as helping trustees and plan professionals administer and operate benefit plans that pay pension and health benefits to hard working people.
Maureen has substantial experience in ERISA and employee benefits law. She primarily represents construction industry multiemployer plans, including defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, welfare plans, and affiliated apprenticeship plans. Maureen counsels these plans on all matters related to ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other laws that affect benefit plans while providing prompt advice on day-to-day plan interpretation and administration. She represents clients in federal litigation concerning participant benefit claims and delinquencies, including serving as a reliable local or co-counsel.
Maureen also has represented individuals in wage and hour class actions under the FLSA and benefit claims against corporate retirement plans. She is committed to helping working people receive hard-earned pay and benefits they are owed.
Previously, Maureen spent seven years at a boutique labor and employee benefits firm in Philadelphia and has additional prior experience in government and policy that inform her practice. Before joining private practice, she wrote extensively about employee benefits law and the Affordable Care Act for a legal publisher. During law school, Maureen clerked with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Education and Labor Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Maureen volunteers as an Advising Attorney to the Washington Lawyers’ Committee Workers’ Rights Clinic. Away from work, she is involved in her children's countless activities as a volunteer youth sports coach and Girl Scout Co-leader. Maureen is a player in the Tri-County Women's Soccer League and a foster with Luv-N-Bunns rabbit rescue.
